The background the work came out of.
Hwang Gyeong-ha is a musician, sound engineer, producer, and ally. He played punk and alternative rock with the band No Control before turning to folk, and — grounded in the Self-Reliant Music Producers’ Cooperative and the Art Liberation Front — has made music in solidarity with the marginalized. He planned and produced 〈Gentrification〉 (2016), an album by musicians resisting gentrification, which earned a Korean Music Awards Selection Committee Special Award in 2017, and released 〈눈녹듯 (Nunnokdeut)〉 (2024), featuring the voice of the mother of the late worker Kim Yong-gyun.
Active as a writer, musician, photographer, producer, and more across multiple fields, ready to play a role in the moments when those without power need it most. Moving with special attention to the moments when writing, music, photography, and other arts hold power in the field.
Musical Journey
He has built his own musical world crossing rock and folk. During his 'No Control' band days, he drew attention with punk and alternative rock, and later focused on folk music, presenting songs that highlight lyricism and intimacy. His songs carry a critical awareness of the times and compassion for the socially marginalized.
Social Engagement and Solidarity
Through activities with the 'Self-Reliant Music Production Cooperative' and 'Art Liberation Front,' he has sought to promote musician independence and solidarity, and explored building an alternative music ecosystem that resists commercialism. He stands in solidarity with those who have lost their homes to redevelopment and gentrification, expressing their stories through artistic practices such as music and exhibitions.

Sabbaha Live Video Shoot
Members gathered again at ACME Studio to shoot a live video for Sabbaha. Lighting, set design, and camera choreography were all handled in-house, resulting in an immersive red-toned stage — capturing a moment where tension and energy simultaneously exploded on film.On-Site SketchMembers worked together to create an eerie atmosphere for the space. After the shoot was done (and even during!), desires were fulfilled with various drinks and greasy food. After the ShootFollowing the shoot, the group visited Longplayer — a multi-cultural space (bar, record shop, and concert venue) operated by composer-for-hire Kim Dongsan — for an after-party together. Ideas shared on-site were further developed, exchanging inspiration for the next project.

Visit to Composer-for-Hire Kim Dongsan's Recording Studio
A visit was made to the special recording studio newly pioneered by composer-for-hire Kim Dongsan, located across from the cultural space Longplayer near Jangan Gate in Suwon.Longplayer and Kim DongsanLongplayer is a unique cultural space located near Jangan Gate in Suwon, operated by the well-known composer-for-hire Kim Dongsan. It serves as a creative hub where music and culture intersect in the Suwon region. The Appeal of Tape RecordingThe most distinctive feature of the studio visited was its capability for tape recording. Analog tape recording provides a unique warmth and depth, adding a special texture and atmosphere to music.Visit ParticipantsFrom the Gyeonggi Art Collective Cooperative, Hwang Gyeong-ha, Choi Gita, Zsthyger, and Lee Ho-min participated in this visit. Drawing on their individual musical experiences and perspectives, they enjoyed samgyeopsal together, toured Kim Dongsan's studio, and shared a variety of stories.Discussion of Collaboration PossibilitiesDuring the visit, there were also discussions about future recording collaboration possibilities with ACME Studio in Suwon's Ingye-dong — a space where drum recording is possible, in which Zsthyger is involved in operations. It would be wonderful if complementary collaboration drawing on each studio's unique characteristics could be realized.Future PlansWe look forward to continued exchange and collaboration between Gyeonggi Art Collective and Longplayer. We hope that through vigorous creative activities utilizing various recording environments, even richer musical output can be produced.
