A visit was made to the special recording studio newly pioneered by composer-for-hire Kim Dongsan, located across from the cultural space Longplayer near Jangan Gate in Suwon.
Longplayer is a unique cultural space located near Jangan Gate in Suwon, operated by the well-known composer-for-hire Kim Dongsan. It serves as a creative hub where music and culture intersect in the Suwon region.
The most distinctive feature of the studio visited was its capability for tape recording. Analog tape recording provides a unique warmth and depth, adding a special texture and atmosphere to music.
From the Gyeonggi Art Collective Cooperative, Hwang Gyeong-ha, Choi Gita, Zsthyger, and Lee Ho-min participated in this visit. Drawing on their individual musical experiences and perspectives, they enjoyed samgyeopsal together, toured Kim Dongsan's studio, and shared a variety of stories.
During the visit, there were also discussions about future recording collaboration possibilities with ACME Studio in Suwon's Ingye-dong — a space where drum recording is possible, in which Zsthyger is involved in operations. It would be wonderful if complementary collaboration drawing on each studio's unique characteristics could be realized.
We look forward to continued exchange and collaboration between Gyeonggi Art Collective and Longplayer. We hope that through vigorous creative activities utilizing various recording environments, even richer musical output can be produced.
