A special music concert, 'Health Concert (健康列傳),' had been scheduled for Thursday, September 18th at 7 PM at 'Longplayer,' a vintage LP bar and café in Paldal-gu, Suwon, but was cancelled due to health issues.
The title 'Health Concert' carries the meaning that artists of diverse musical colors gather to wish the hearts and bodies of the audience good health. The subtitle 'Play long the long play' expressed the intent to deliver music with a lingering resonance like an LP record, inspired by the character of the venue, Longplayer.
Heewoo A singer-songwriter with a distinctive style that incorporates traditional pansori vocal techniques into contemporary music. Combining the deep emotional expression of pansori with modern arrangements, Heewoo presents music that bridges tradition and the present day. His music, which reinterprets the sounds of traditional instruments such as daegeum and gayageum in a modern context, delivers emotion that transcends time.
Yoo Dong-hyuk A musician who began with punk rock and forged a unique genre called punk-folk. Through life's turning points, he works through his experiences of loss and wandering with an acoustic guitar, conveying a rough yet warm sensibility. The years of struggle and pain are woven throughout his music.
themilliways A solo project by musician Ju Jintae, pursuing experimental soundscapes rooted in ambient and post-rock. Having begun composing in the early 2000s and standing in solidarity with various social movements, he has continued original work at the intersection of music and media, drawing on his experience as a content producer at Seo Taiji Company. Following a terminal lung cancer diagnosis in 2017 and a period of recovery, he made his solo debut in 2021, and his music carries profound messages exploring existence and the inner self.
Yamagata Tweakster A unique performance artist who calls himself a 'Mutugayo People's Entertainer.' Active in the Hongdae area since 2008, he communicates with audiences through Hanba's performances combining dance and song to dance music. Beyond club performances, he actively delivers social messages through music by standing in solidarity at various protest sites.
Longplayer, where the concert was to take place, is a space where music and analog culture can be enjoyed through records, cameras, and drip coffee. Known for a culture of repairing and reusing things that become discarded over time, it is a special place where anyone can come, listen to the records of their choice, and summon memories through music-related memorabilia.
The stage of healing and comfort offered by four groups of artists who have each walked their own musical journeys was expected to bring musical wellness to many this autumn.
